DIRECT CREMATIONS
A direct cremation is a cremation that takes place without a funeral service or ceremony, and with no mourners in attendance.
Process:
The deceased is collected from the place of death and taken to the crematorium, where they are cremated in a simple coffin. The cremation usually takes place within a few days, once the death has been registered and the funeral director paid in full

How I Can Assist You:
As a celebrant, I am able to conduct personalised and meaningful, non-religious celebrations of life and memorial services before or after direct cremations.
This could be an outdoor service somewhere special to the person who is no longer with us with a scattering of the ashes. It could be a relaxed get together at their local pub, their home or a more formal ceremony in a dignified space. This ceremony focuses on the person who has died and celebrates their life.
It would be my honour to help you to plan a personalised and meaningful farewell ceremony.

A common one is that a direct cremation can be very cost-effective. As of 2024, the average cost of a direct cremation is £1500 as opposed to an average cost of £4500 for a traditional cremation.

If you know that the person who has died didn’t want any fuss, or you would rather celebrate and remember their life on another occasion then a simple cremation can be a good choice.

For families who live far apart, a direct cremation can mean they as well as friends or colleagues have more choice over when to come together to honour the person who has died.
